Slice and Other Student Cards
TAI student card
As a TAI student, you are entitled to a free digital To the Slice student card. The card serves as an official proof of your studies at TAI.
You are entitled to the blue student card that offers VR and Matkahuolto discounts if:
- you study full-time at TAI
- your studies last for at least 8 months
- you study in evening or blended teaching (at least three days of contact teaching per week)
- also applies to students in further vocational qualifications and specialist vocational qualifications if the other conditions are met
- you are covered by student financial aid or adult education allowance or receive Kela’s rehabilitation allowance
- you can be under 17 years of age as long as you study full-time at TAI
You are entitled to the green student card that does not offer VR/Matkahuolto discounts if:
- you study part-time at TAI
- your studies last less than eight months
- you are receiving earnings-related daily allowance or an unemployment benefit from Kela
The student is NOT entitled to a student card in the following cases:
- the student is in apprenticeship training
- studies are labour market training
- the studies are staff training / otherwise funded
- the student receives support from an insurance company for their studies
- the student is in basic education for adults.
How to start using the Slice student card:
1) Authorisation: Authorise Slice to deliver your digital student card on Wilma. Permission to transfer data can be found under Forms > Personal data form > My data may be transferred to the Slice student card service. Your permission will be transferred to Slice every day at noon, so please wait until that has been done before you go to step 2.
2) Upload a photo: Next day, go to slice.fi/upload/tai to upload your photo for the student card. If necessary, contact info@slice.fi.
3) Card activation: After uploading the photo, you will receive the activation codes for your student card in your email shortly. Download the Slice.fi application from the app store and log in to the email with your IDs.
The card is now ready – take advantage of your student benefits and enjoy your studies at TAI!
To change your student card to a new phone:
If you change phones, you can reset your user ID at slice.fi/resetoi. In the form, enter the e-mail address you entered for Slice. You will receive a link to your email shortly which you can click to receive the new app activation code in your email.
